One of my favourite portraits from India. I love this picture in all its beauty and ugliness. This lady had so much character with her beautiful bright clothing and jewellery. She has these crazy eyes, crooked nose and bright yellow teeth, and her grinning, awkward smile brings it all together to make such a stunning portrait.

An Unexpected Shot
I really love this photo, but I actually hadn't even intended to take it. Walking on the streets of Udaipur, a boy tapped me on my arm and signalled to me to take his photo. I snapped it, showed him the picture and moved on. Only later that day did I realise how nice it really was. Against the blur of the women walking by he stands out so nicely.
I'm fascinated by how much Indians love having their photo taken, both young, old, rich and poor. Everyone jumps at the opportunity. It's wonderful!!!

Curious Monkey
Driving around Pilanesberg National Park (South Africa), I got particularly close to this little guy and his family feeding in the bushes next to the road. His youth and innocence made him far more curious as to what this big hunk of metal was with faces sticking out than his family members. He stared long and hard at us with a face of wonder and bewilderment until he eventually ran off.
