Like my blog I use Instagram (view my feed here) as a tool to share my photography, the stories behind the shots, as well as receiving useful feedback and criticism on them. Instagram makes it really easy to reach a certain market specifically related to the images you showcase by using hashtags... that is, when they work!
I post one photo on Instagram each day, and while at this stage in time I don't have the largest following, I at least get noticeable feedback on my photos. The other day I posted a photo with a handful of hashtags attached to it. Throughout the day I received very little feedback, and after some investigation I found that the feedback I had received was from those who were already following me.
I decided to google the problem and found a whole bunch of solutions (which weren't solutions at all). Eventually I figured out the problem!
Not that I know why this problem exists, but it seems to be a bug with specific hashtags. In my case it was #photography that caused all my hashtags not to work for my photos.
Unfortunately I cannot say which hashtag it is giving you problems. Most likely its will take some trial and error to figure it out. But once I had figured my case out, I simply deleted the photo, and re-added it with all hashtags except the problem one.
This seems to have fixed the problem for me. I hope it does the same for you. If you need assistance or explanation feel free to drop me a comment and I'll happily reply. Also, be sure to check out the rest of my blog and follow my Instagram feed.
